There's Nothing I Can Do
"In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace." Ephesians 1:7 Every time I hear the song "Grace" by Stuart Townend, I am in awe of God's grace freely given to me. Below are the words of the chorus: ‘Cause it's grace! There's nothing I can do To make You love me more, To make You love me less than You do And by faith I'm standing on this Stone Of Christ and Christ alone Your righteousness is all that I need ‘Cause it's grace! Nelson's Bible Dictionary defines "grace" as "Favor or kindness shown without regard to the worth or merit of the one who receives it and in spite of what that same person deserves." I have the privilege of teaching second grade students at a Christian school. Last year, one of my students gave me a great word picture of GRACE. This student was having a difficult day following the classroom rules. I gave her some warnings and some small consequences, but that was not working for her. Finally, I pulled her aside to have a discussion about her behavior and the possible consequences. After further discussion, I decided that this was a time for GRACE, so I asked this student if she knew the definition of GRACE. Tears came to her eyes as she told me in a second grader's language the true definition of grace which, of course, brought tears to my eyes. Once this student received "grace" from me, she spent the rest of the day with the biggest smile on her face, and she had a little pep in her step. God gives grace every day to those who ask so we can live in freedom from the bondage of sin!
