Ministry changes name
Almost ten years ago, a concern for women and their personal walk with God drew Reba Bowman away from her job as a coach and dean of women and into women’s ministry. Over the next few years, God placed a dream in her heart to start a ministry that would support, encourage, and challenge women in their relationship with Christ. That dream became a reality in September 2006, when Reba and a small but committed group of supporters founded Reba Bowman Ministries (RBM). In less than three years RBM has grown from the simple vision of reaching women through a Bible-teaching ministry to a growing, around-the-globe outreach to both women and young people. Since its inception, a recurring phrase has been used to describe RBM’s motivation and vision: Dare for More. Just as we challenge our audiences to dare for more in their lives, we believe God is asking us to do the same by trusting Him in the next stages of our ministry. Based on this conviction, we are announcing a change in our ministry name from Reba Bowman Ministries to Dare for More Ministries. We believe this name more accurately describes the mission and purpose of our ministry. 1. The ministry is bigger than one person God is doing a great work with the ministry. He has led us to expand our ability to serve and strengthen the local church in many ways. In the past, the main focus of the ministry has centered on the speaking ministry of Reba Bowman. While this aspect of the ministry is not changing, God has been pushing our ministry forward in new and exciting directions. God is at work putting a team in place to reach more people than ever before. Lisa Potter, a wonderful speaker in her own right, is now beginning to team with Reba in speaking opportunities. Lisa has a great burden for young people and a real gift in communicating with them. Already this year, Reba and Lisa have teamed together at several conferences with Lisa speaking to the teens while Reba speaks to the women. The feedback from these meetings has been exciting. This has added a wonderful dimension to the conferences and is very easy for churches to facilitate. RENEW weekends have recently been launched. These weekends will give us the opportunity to meet with participants in an intimate small group setting and minister in a very personal way. A team of Biblical Life Coaches is being trained to lead and minister at each of these events. Each one of these team members is already gifted, trained, and experienced in specialized areas. Our goals are to give hope to each person who attends, to help them in areas of need, and to energize them to take their plan and put it into action. 2. It's all about the Great Commission Before Jesus left this earth, He shared His vision with His disciples. The vision was huge in scope and size. Jesus had the world in mind when He commanded His followers to share the gospel and to disciple those who had trusted in Him. Jesus challenged His disciples to dare for more in their personal relationship with Him so they could be filled with the power to dare for the world. They took His command to heart and turned the world upside down in a day without modern transportation or mass communication tools. Daring for more is Great Commission living. It’s our desire to share the Gospel with as many as possible and disciple those who trust Him. We may have more technology, but the task is still daunting. His filling and power will be the only thing that makes our task possible. It’s not about us; it’s about the good of others and the glory of God. 3. An expanded vision needs a name that encompasses the future Now is the best time to make this change. That is why the leadership and board have decided to change the name to Dare for More Ministries. Dare for More is the umbrella under which everything else God leads the ministry to do will fit. It is a better way to describe the scope of the ministry, and it also gives the ministry a vision for the future. In conclusion God has challenged us again to expand our thoughts of His greatness and to watch Him lead and guide His work. This ministry is His work. We are excited and humbled that He would allow us to partner with Him as He works in this world.
